Funk City Band are a powerhouse of professional musicians known for delivering unforgettable live music experiences. With a flexible line-up ranging from a tight 3-piece to a dynamic 7-piece complete with a horn section, they bring a unique blend of pop, indie rock, Motown, sing-along anthems, and upbeat classics to every event. Whatever the size or style of your celebration, Funk City Band create a bespoke soundtrack tailored just for you.
Having performed at over 600+ weddings and over 9000+ events since 2004, Funk City Band know exactly how to get the party started and keep the dance floor packed all night. Their interactive performances — featuring wireless mics and instruments — allow them to move through the crowd, creating a high-energy atmosphere and unforgettable moments.
If you’re after more than just an evening party, Funk City Band also offer stylish acoustic sets perfect for drinks receptions or during dinner. Looking for a festival vibe or a touch of class? Their versatile line-up and extensive repertoire mean they can cater to any style or mood.
The band came together through a mutual love of excellent party music and performing at weddings and events. Together they have played over 600+ wedding functions and are one of the most fun filled, varied and brilliant bands for hire in London and the UK. The duo was formed in 2002 and since then have performed at over 8.5k events.
Every member of the band is a professional musician who individually has over 14 years of live music experience and we’ve created one of the best Bristol, Wiltshire, Surrey and London Wedding Bands available.
The band was founded and made famous by the awesome harmonies of Craig Mitchell and Simon Baum and they have serenaded stars such as English Royalty, Val Kilmer (RIP), Ed Sheeran and Robert Downey Junior. Some of the members held the Guinness record for ‘Longest concert by a band’. 44h and 28mins NON stop ROCK. (Almost 2 days of non stop playing)

The Band includes:
Craig Mitchell – Lead Vocals and Lead Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and all emails.
Choo Choo all aboard the love train! Craig ‘Lightening’ Mitchell (not a real name) is the lead singer and guitarist in the band. He won’t leave the stage until everyone has been on the dance floor! He has been a professional musician for the last 14 years as well as teaching ‘rock’ and ‘the funk’ to anyone willing to listen. He also has a solo act ‘Juke Box Mash Up’ – an interactive / comedy / music show where you can request ANY song in the world and he will play it live there and then.
Stumpy/ Emu – Vocals and Bass Guitar
Stumpy plays Bass Guitar and sings. Also know as Emu (or occasionally Emma) she has been a professional musician for over 16 years, regularly performing at Weddings, Birthday Parties and other events. She has a degree in ‘Bringing it home’! She has Funk and is not afraid to show you the photos…
Steve– Drums and Vocals
Steve has been with the band since 2019. He is a professional music teacher by day and semi rock / pop god by night. He sings all the high notes on the Whitney Houston medleys out of choice. If he could be her… he would be. But sadly he can’t so he just ROCKS for Funk City.
There are around 10 full time musicians we regularly use for events. We can easily swap and change any of the players for different of if anyone falls ill. We have had 100% attendance in 20 years.

2 HOURS OF LIVE MUSIC When you hire Funk City you are guaranteed at least two hours of brilliant non – stop hits, to keep you dancing all night.
DAYTIME PERFORMANCES As part of our optional extras, we can also arrange a daytime duo performance for you during the drinks reception or afternoon.
FREE PLAYLIST DJ SERVICE We offer you a totally free disco service before, in-between and after the live band have finished up until 12AM.
