Let’s cut to the chase: we’re not your average band. We’re Funk City Band—a live party machine with a serious work ethic and a not-so-serious personality. We’ve been doing this for two glorious, music-filled decades, and in that time, we’ve performed at over 9,000 events. That’s right. Nine. Thousand. (We’re honestly not sure how we still have functioning knees.) AND we STILL LOVE IT. 

Whether it’s a wedding in a castle, a corporate party in a hotel ballroom, or a neon-lit garden rave involving inflatable saxophones (true story), we’ve done it all. We bring the music, the moves, and the mischief. But always with a level of professionalism that means you can trust us to show up, turn up, and deliver the goods.

Our Origin Story (Cue Epic Movie Trailer Voice)

Picture this: it’s 2004. Low-rise jeans are in. The Black Eyed Peas are dominating the charts. And somewhere in a rehearsal studio filled with mismatched amps and lukewarm coffee, Funk City Band is born. Stared by Craig Mitchell and Simon Baum fun(k) was created. 

We started small—just a couple of us playing in an acoustic duo playing at mainly pubs and bars then other parties. But word spread. Fast. Before long, we were booked solid every weekend, adding more musicians and instruments to the mix until we became the fully-fledged funk-pop-soul explosion you see today. It was *insane* and before having children we were playing 9 shows a week! (everyday with 2 gig on Wednesdays and 2 on Sunday’s)

Fast-forward to now, and we’re a go-to name for wedding entertainment, corporate events, festivals, and private parties across the UK (and beyond). And yep—we still love what we do. Lot’s of people still talk

Where We Play

We’re based in the UK and regularly light up venues across Somerset, Wiltshire, Bristol, Bath, and beyond. Whether it’s a scenic outdoor wedding at Priston Mill, a black-tie event in central London, or a muddy field with fairy lights and cider, we adapt to the vibe—and turn it into a full-on celebration.

We’re also partial to a road trip. Fancy booking us for a wedding in Ibiza? A yacht party in Croatia? An igloo party in Finland? Count us in (seriously).

If you’re having a party and want a brilliant band that actually gets the vibe and gets people dancing. This is really important to us. If that sounds good— get in touch. If you have a wedding or event in a different place we are local to Bath, Wiltshire, Bristol, Somerset and Reading too although we travel absolutely everywhere. *Except the moon*. When people dance too much in zero gravity they have a tendency to float off which can cause problems with our insurance.
